Our Wedding

It all began in the winter of 2022, when I (Alec) temporarily moved to Silverthorne to be closer to the mountains while working remotely. We had first met the previous winter through mutual friends, but life had pulled us in different directions. When I mentioned I was returning to Colorado for the ski season, Sarah decided to join me on the slopes. And just like that, a simple message turned into something much bigger. One ski day turned into many. Mountains became memories, and friendship quietly blossomed into love. Since then, we’ve set down roots in Denver, exploring the world together through skiing, hiking, and traveling, all while building a life full of adventure and connection. On August 4, 2025, back in Vail where our story first began, I decided it was time to give our relationship a new title: fiancés! We’re so excited to celebrate over four years of love, laughter, and adventure with all of you, and to create even more unforgettable memories together. We’re endlessly grateful for the love and support from our friends and family, and we can’t wait to share a weekend full of fun, food, dancing, and drinks with everyone who’s been part of our story.

The Story

Inisfree Estate is ~1 hour from Grand Rapids, ~2 hours from Chicago, and ~3 hours from Detroit. Accommodations in Saugatuck are somewhat limited, as most lodging options are Airbnbs, Vrbos, or charming, family-owned boutique hotels (a few are linked below). We highly recommend choosing one of these to fully experience everything downtown Saugatuck has to offer! Summer is a particularly busy season in Saugatuck, so we encourage you to book your accommodations as early as possible to secure your preferred option. Although Inisfree Estate provides parking, please note that the venue is in a semi-remote location, so Uber and Lyft will be unavailable following the reception. We will have a shuttle to transport guests from the venue to the after party from 10:30PM - 11:30PM. The drop off location is at Wally’s Bar &amp; Grill, so please plan your stay with this in mind! Finally, if you prefer a more traditional hotel experience, there will be a room block at the Best Western Plaza Hotel Saugatuck, as this is the only large-scale hotel in the area. Please see below for more information.

This affordable motel is a little further from downtown, but is about the cheapest hotel accommodations that can be found this time of year. It is a 30 minute walk from the wedding shuttle drop off. This hotel does not offer room blocks.

Starlite Resort

This Mid-Range Boutique Hotel has a total of 7 rooms. It is right in the middle of downtown Saugatuck and is a 3 minute walk from where the shuttle will drop off after the wedding. This hotel does not offer room blocks.

The Inn of Saugatuck

This mid-range hotel only has 4 rooms left for our wedding weekend! It is a 4 minute walk from the wedding shuttle stop. This hotel does not offer room blocks.

Luckystone Inn

This waterfront Mid-Range Boutique Hotel also has a small number of available rooms and is ideal for guests looking to spend a little longer in Saugatuck, as there is a 3 night minimum stay. It is a 5 minute walk from the wedding shuttle stop. This hotel does not offer room blocks.

BaySide Inn

This 8-room luxury bed and breakfast is perfect for anyone looking to treat themselves this weekend! It is a 5 minute walk from the wedding shuttle stop. This hotel does not offer room blocks.

Judson Heath Colonial Inn

This hotel is the only chain hotel in the area and is the only option with a room block. There is flexible cancellation until July 1st. It is a 29 minute walk from the wedding shuttle drop off. To use our code/room block, you'll have to call the hotel and simply tell them that you're booking for the Degroot/Lueders wedding.
